How many of us can honestly say that we love every part of our bodies? All people have their off-days, as I too struggle with this simple concept.
Many of us attempt to change our body’s appearance during our lives. We internalize society’s call to consumerism, believing that we are somehow inadequate without the latest product.
I remember a frieMonika Wisniewski |dreamstime.com nd years ago who had the most beautiful skin. I always thought she had an elaborate beauty routine and was amazed when I found out that she used absolutely nothing. Using only a washcloth and water, she “washed” her face every night believing that her body was well equipped to take care of itself without the aid of man-made products.
In Cyndi Dale’s book, The Complete Guide to Chakra Healing, she discusses how our spirit creates our bodies at the moment of conception, choosing our genes from the genes of our mother and father and forming our unique physical appearance and the possible physical conditions that will aid us in our new human experience. In that moment we each knew at our essence that every aspect of our body was perfectly chosen for our unique journey.
The size, shape and health of our body also attract to us the people necessary to move us along on our spiritual path and understanding of our purpose. Our unique form is like a honing device, bringing to us those people that are most needed on our journey. We are, at our essence, the perfect mix of physical characteristics in order to serve an important purpose.
As we embark upon our human journey, this information and understanding becomes lost to us, but the physical form that we chose to move us through life and allows us to experience both pleasure and pain also reminds us everyday to love ourselves as we did when we were created.
Whether this takes a lifetime to achieve or many lifetimes is unimportant; self-love is always at the heart of our journey. Some of us need to throw away the beauty products to get there and some of us need to surround ourselves with material possessions that remind us of our beauty. No matter how you do it, we are all in some way traveling back to this understanding.
I invite you all to take a page from Louise Hay’s famous book, Heal Your Body, and join me in raising a glass to our wonderful physical form. Repeat after me:

“I see myself as beautiful and loveable and appreciated.
I am proud to be me.”
