Think of CFU as a one-stop Denver photography school.
We’ve got all sorts of photography classes–from how to quickly start using your new camera (DSLR or point-and-shoot) to sophisticated workshops out in field or on technical topics. Here are my top three photography picks:
Check out Susan Winn’s Macro Photography workshop on November 11. Meet in the classroom and learn accessible ways to create crystal clear macro effects with your digital camera. Susan developed many tricks to taking close-ups, without using expensive lenses or filters. The class meets later at the Botanic Gardens to practice.
Local writer and photographer Tim Morehead gives a darn good class. One of his best is Budget Lighting for Photographers: Savvy Solutions for Pro Results coming up on December 15. Learn to “make do” with inexpensive or everyday items you already have to create lighting effects that mimic much more expensive equipment. You’ll be amazed at how much you can improve your shots by actively manipulating the lighting–but you don’t have to go on a financial limb to do it.
If you’re pretty savvy already with your camera, you’d be crazy not to try Tim’s Portrait Photography. Tim has an uncanny way of revealing the essence of his subject. Come learn some of his secrets. The next session is coming up on December 16.
