Historical European Longbow Making
Learn the skills necessary to construct historical longbows while making your own basic longbow during this intensive, instructive, hands-on special event. You’ll also learn about the tradition and history of the European longbow and similar forms of hunting and military bows. Follow patterns from different medieval times, based on historical examples found in Europe, such those from the Viking age and medieval English longbows. Working with modern versions of historical tools, use special selected woods and native horn to craft a longbow. The subtle yet powerful mechanics of good bow design will be stressed. Dan Cheatham II is a living knight whose company, Legends International, specializes in historical events, props, and artisans. Passionate about sharing history and keeping traditional arts alive, Dan is excited to offer this exceptional value for CFU students to create a longbow and take it home for much less than one would cost on the open market.
