See how well you’ve been trained as a moviegoer to understand and know the craft of screenwriting. Learn how to identify and strengthen the components of character development, plot and pacing, setting, and problem solving in your screenplay. Discover resources available to writers and get a realistic view of how long a screenplay takes to develop and get to a final draft. Begin to take steps to ensure your time pays off. Amanda Morris Conti was instrumental in founding the short filmmaking festival in Boulder called The Shoot Out: Boulder. Beginning Screenwriting Workshop
From Concept to Treatment
You have thought about the movie you would make and you even hear snatches of dialog in your mind. You are serious and motivated to write your screenplay. This introductory workshop on the craft of screenwriting will enable you to begin the process of shaping your ideas into an actual screenplay. The emphasis is on story structure, character development and film language. In class, study screenplays and movies that have been produced in order to identify the elements of a successfully crafted script. Working through the processes of outlining, character development, and other exercises, screenwriter Amanda Morris Conti guides students in completing a treatment or narrative outline for an original screenplay. Leave class with the foundation on which to build and develop your screenplay.
